A membership- and volunteer-based organization whose motto is "Working Together to Discover Our Ancestral Roots," the Société de généalogie's primary goal is to increase genealogical knowledge and to enable its members to add to their family history. The Society sees itself as a kind of "virtual museum" of family history for the region. Revenues from memberships and publication sales go towards publishing the Society's periodical, L'Entraide généalogique, and other monographs, and for building the reference collection. Members volunteer their time producing publications and offering assistance to researchers.
