During the next three years, from now to its 50th Anniversary in 2014, the Missisquoi Museum will be updating several of its installations and will be initiating a number of important projects. These actions are part of a well-structured strategic plan and they will require the constant efforts of staff and board members. Over and above their involvement the staff and board will need to count on the services of volunteers to accomplish certain tasks at the Museum or during the course of fundraising or promotional activities.
To complete its bank of volunteers the Museum is in search of persons who have some spare time that they wish to donate to a good cause by joining a very dynamic and sympathetic team. The tasks to be preformed may be routine or particular, on site, elsewhere or accomplished from home, but they always take in account the volunteers’ interests and talents. As many of these activities concern tourism, it is an excellent occasion to practice French or improve your knowledge of the language. Although there are more activities in the summer, the Museum organizes events all year round.
Examples of Museum volunteering needs include the following: secretarial work on site or by email, data processing in Museum offices or at home, graphic art for various documents, tourist guide in one of the 3 buildings, host during promotional events, inspection of heritage cemeteries, inventory and upkeep of items of the collection, translation of documents, writing and editing, group animation, preparation of reports, etc., etc. Interested persons can request a form to be completed at: info@missisquoimuseum.ca For further information, you may contact Jacqueline Côté, Communications Director of the Museum, at: (450) 248-3153.
