Cécile Gélinas, Director of the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke, is pleased to announce that the 2013 edition of the Soirée des Beaux-arts brought the tidy sum of $60,000 to the coffers of the Musée, the result of ticket sales as well as the auction of art works. Many works achieved bids of $1000 or more: Yves Trudeau, Riopelle, René Derouin, Éloïse Brodeur, Tom Hopkins, Serge Lemoyne, Paul Béliveau, Yves Nantel. Some artists from the Townships also passed the $1,000 dollars mark: Étienne St-Amant and Deborah Davis to name a few.
A total of more than 50 works of art came under the gavel of Anaïs Girardot and Bertrand LaPalme, in the presence of a full house of artists, collectors, business and professional people, and lovers of art. Dr. Réjean Hébert, ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux was honorary president of the Soirée. The 25 fifth edition of the Soirée des Beaux-arts was generously supported by the Société des alcools de Québec (SAQ) and the partnership was renewed with Restaurants Auguste and Augustine. Works for the auction were donated by artists and collectors of the region; we thank them most sincerely for their support of the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke, and for their contribution to the most important annual fund-raising activity of our year.
