Dear Friends,

2019.agm_.3_page_1.jpgThis year the Quebec Anglophone Heritage Network heads to beautiful Knowlton for its 20th Annual Convention and AGM. We've planned an itinerary we hope you will find exciting and fun, with activities taking place over two days on June 1-2, 2019.

Day 1 (Saturday) includes QAHN's Annual General Meeting. This will take place at the historic and atmospheric Lakeview Inn on Victoria Street. The AGM will be followed by networking, a banquet lunch and awards ceremony, and a talk by Philip Lanthier, founding president of the Knowlton Literary Festival. During the day, in addition to displays by heritage groups, two new exhibitions will be on view -- QAHN's own "Diversity and Achievement in Anglophone Quebec" and the "A History of Achievement, 1944-2019," by the Quebec Federation of Home & School Associations. The day will close with a casual QAHN Cocktail and supper at the Auberge Knowlton in the village.

On Day 2 (Sunday) participants will have a chance to get to know Knowlton and its history. We'll begin with a guided tour of the village. Then we'll head to the Old Courthouse for a talk by Dr. Dorothy Williams. In her talk "Saving Montreal: Blacks in the Battle of Chateauguay," Dorothy will tell us about one of the not-so-well-known aspects of the War of 1812. After a delicious box lunch on the grounds of the Brome County Museum, we'll get a guided tour of this splendid site, including the Old Academy (1854), the famous Fokker World War I biplane, the newly restored Paul Holland Knowlton House (1815), and more. Finally, we'll pile into our cars at the end of the afternoon, and head out, convoy-style, to the old Tibbits Hill School (1844), a one-room schoolhouse built entirely of fieldstone on the outskirts of the village.

So it should be a great two days! But mark these dates in your calendars: June 1-2, 2019! For more information about the itinerary and fees associated with this event, please consult the complete program and registration form. Participants may pick and choose what they wish to attend, or they can attend everything. All we ask is that you register and return your completed form with payment to QAHN as soon as possible. As space is limited, you should register early! Please note that QAHN has booked a block of rooms for both Friday and Saturday evenings, and at very competitive rates, at the Lakeview Inn in Knowlton. Again, we suggest you book early as space is limited!

We look forward to seeing you in June!
