Le Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke will have the pleasure of welcoming curator Sébastien Hudon’s exhibition Jean Soucy, Underground Painter. Mr. Hudon will be premiering this exhibition, from January 28 until March 26, 2017.

Through the presentation of some sixty works, many documents and several artefacts, visitors will be invited to discover the rich artistic career of Jean Soucy (1915, L’Isle Verte – 2003, Québec City). His creative career path will be unveiled over four striking periods covering the 1940s to the 1960s, while artists freed themselves from classic academicism to embrace new subjects, languages and plastic methods, according to their own subjectivity.

And so after a half-century of remaining dormant and underground, the works of painter Jean Soucy will be presented at the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke from January 28 to March 26, 2017.

The presentation of this travelling exhibition is made possible through support by Patrimoine Canadien Heritage.
